Makenna @ Camp North End

If you’re a photographer in Charlotte, NC, (or if you love creative photography in Charlotte) you know about Camp North End. It’s like an oasis of fun and creativity in a part of town that has been otherwise industrial for a long time. I actually haven’t shot there much at all, but it’s a really cool blend of sleek and modern and old and steam-punk.

I got connected with Makenna (https://www.instagram.com/itsmak222/) through social media and loved her content so was totally stoked when we found a time to get together.

We hung out at Camp North End for a couple of hours, finding all sorts of fun nooks and crannies to take a few photos. I grabbed my camera (Nikon Z6II), a couple of lenses, and my Godox AD200. What we ended up with was a sexy, steam-punk vibe, that really has the potential to be a turn on.

We found a small overhang with some weeds and a post that served as a stand-in pole. Makenna was great and we managed to find some really cool poses in a really small space. One of my faves of the day.

Part of the old Camp North End complex is a small building that was likely used as a gate post or access control for delivery trucks, etc. It’s been painted in a bright blue with colorful stuff all over it. We used it as a backdrop for some lounging shots that really made Makenna’s red hair pop.

The killer shots of the day though - at least in my mind - were in front of the old warehouse with the tall smokestack. I took a really low perspective, looking up at Makenna sitting up on a retaining wall. The shots have a striking sky in the background and the cool, delicious colors really deliver a dramatic shot. Makenna’s posing and facial expressions are amazing too.

All that to say, I’m super happy with how these shots turned out - from the framing to the posing to the editing with Lightroom. Thanks, Makenna, for a really fun day and so looking forward to the next time we can shoot together.
